Aortic Stenosis
Aortic stenosis (“AS”) is a type of heart valve disease where the aortic valve is narrowed and does not open fully which reduces or blocks blood flow from the heart to the aorta and to the rest of the body.
Treatment of aortic stenosis depends on how severe the condition is, ranging from mild, moderate, and severe. Treatment may include surgery or interventional procedure such as TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement)
Without treatment, severe aortic stenosis can lead to death or other life-threatening complications including heart failure, stroke, blood clots, and heart infections.
